Angie: By the time I'm in here today, it's like I'm almost you... I got to the point where I was just praying to God that I would have teeth.

Angie: Hi, I'm Angie. For years, I had thought about getting Lumineers and when the time finally came, after 10 years of consideration, I was very excited. And, just the entire appointment just didn't really go well. And then, I left and I realized that the teeth that I had were very large, much larger than my normal teeth, my natural teeth and they were very thick. But the bad thing is, a couple of weeks later, and actually when I went home that night, I realized and I saw that all of my teeth were open. I had all these cracks and holes and none of them were sealed completely to my natural tooth. Right now, we're working on getting my teeth sealed and actually even getting teeth that form to my natural teeth and fit my mouth.

Dr. Michaela Tozzi: Well, we just went ahead and placed a topical on all of our gums here and then we're going to go ahead and just work our way around and start administering anesthetic all the way across so she doesn't feel anything while we're working on her.

Dr. Michaela Tozzi: How much longer they are, and then you can see how thick they are, it's crazy.

Dr. Michaela Tozzi: We're just in the process of pulling off Angie's veneers and they're so bulky that I'm just running up through my diamonds trying to cut them off. They've got to be at least a millimeter, actually, I'd say probably 2, 2.5 millimeters thick, which is way too thick for veneers. They don't need to be nearly that thick. Usually on average.5 millimeter, 1 millimeter, it just depends on the patient's situation. But yeah, we're just burning through diamonds trying to get these suckers off, but it'll be worth it in the end.

Angie: Look at that. They look like my... They look so normal.

Dr. Michaela Tozzi: They do.

Angie: I could almost cry. Oh, my gosh. What they looked like became a matter of priority. You know what I mean?

Dr. Michaela Tozzi: Yeah.

Speaker 3: Yeah.

Dr. Michaela Tozzi: My goal is for you to not smile for the next few days.

Angie: It's so nice to see them look the way that my natural teeth look, you know?

Dr. Michaela Tozzi: Mm-hmm (affirmative).

Angie: And, they're going in the direction that my teeth go, you know?

Dr. Michaela Tozzi: Yeah.

Angie: It's such a relief.

Dr. Michaela Tozzi: And, a lot of times they will, once you kind of crack that seal, they just fly right off. And so I've only had one case where I actually had to cut, cut, cut, like prep off the veneers and that was a nightmare. But, yeah, usually you can just make one straight cut down the front and just.

Dr. Michaela Tozzi: We had such a fun morning this morning we saw Angie. This is just a quick recap after we finished her procedure. We cut off all those bulky veneers and kind of cleaned some things up. She had a little bit of decay going on. She's getting a gum lift next week, so today, I just wanted to get her in her temporaries, get her comfortable, and get her confident again until she gets her gun lift done. So she'll actually come back for one more appointment with me. We'll cut off for temporaries, clean everything up, make sure it looks perfect, get a new impression, and that's it. And then, she'll come back two weeks later to get her permanent ones put on.

Dr. Michaela Tozzi: But anyway, she was so happy once we got her temporaries on. It really reminds her of how her teeth used to look, just a more improved version rather than the bulky fake-looking veneers that she had on this morning when she came in. So just to clarify, she left crying with tears of joy, not because she hated how her teeth looked. That was probably from round one at the previous dentist.
