Dr. Tom Lawler

Originally from Texas, Dr. Lawler completed his dental training at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas. Upon graduation in 2016, he moved to Las Vegas to begin his career. He has since completed extensive advanced training in all aspects of dentistry, especially cosmetic and restorative dentistry. He is a graduate of the renowned Kois Center in Seattle and has also earned the prestigious Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Lawler is passionate about dentistry and finds joy in the art, science, and relationships of the profession. Along with his wife and four daughters, he is happy to call Las Vegas home.

Growing up, I always loved art (Bob Ross anyone?) and using the creative side of my brain. I was also fascinated by science (my mom was a middle school science teacher for 20+ years) and human biology. Plus, I’ve always been a bit of an extrovert and I love meeting and talking to people. So when I started looking at dentistry, it felt like the perfect mix of all those things and away I went.

I did my undergraduate at Brigham Young University and got my degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Spanish. I returned home to Texas for dental school and earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry (now Texas A&M) in Dallas. After graduation I moved to Las Vegas in 2016 to start my dental career.

What really makes dentistry exciting for me is always trying to learn more and hone my craft. I’ve completed hundreds of hours of continuing education and advanced training in cosmetic dentistry, laser dentistry, digital dentistry, and 3D imaging. You probably don’t even care, but for what it’s worth, I’m an active member of the:

  • American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
  • Academy for Sports Dentistry
  • American Dental Association
  • Academy of General Dentistry

My wife and I have four (count ‘em, four) daughters…so if I look tired, that’s why. But they are the sweetest little girls imaginable and make life so fun. When I’m not in the office, you’ll find me hiking around southern Nevada looking for petroglyphs and old mines, traveling, off-roading in the mountains, playing with my girls, or (most likely) watching sports.

Here’s a list of 5 other useless facts about me:

  • I never get red eye in photos…never. Don’t ask me why, tiny pupils?
  • I’ve had close call (I’m talking face-to-face) encounters with some of the most dangerous animals in the US – mountain lions, bears, bull moose, and countless rattlesnakes.
  • I speak fluent Spanish.
  • I broke my left foot seven times from ages 12-17.
  • Besides having four daughters, I also have only sisters (I’m the youngest of four siblings).
